Yes Socrates, communication and having the ability to listen is important in relationship, but what can we do about psychological divisions that man has created?
Conflict begins when one, due to upbringing, being conditioned to be many different things other than a human being - be it, race, religion, or any other ideolgy.
This serves to separate the person from the rest of humankind and they will meet another who has differences with suspicion and distrust - hence conflict.
It's no surprise why most of the wars in history have been over religion. So we must destroy the divisive illusions we have created for ourselves and to greet everyone we meet as a human being only.
That is the only way we will ever have peace on this planet, no matter how utopian that sounds.
I agree 100% that those with preconceived notions about other people "will meet another who has differences with suspicion and distrust". But conflict is only guaranteed when the person in question refuses to openly communicate with his perceived adversary and have an open and honest dialogue, where both parties try to find common ground.
Ultimately, though, all of life's problems can be blamed on human ignorance (which is responsible for the "psychological divisions that man has created"—something that you so eloquently stated).
